Kennedys New Frontier Essays
Kennedys New Frontier Essays Kennedys New Frontier Essay Kennedys New Frontier Essay John F. Kennedy, our 35th President who won in the 1960 election, was also the youngest man ever to become President. In debates against his Republican opponent Richard Nixon, he was very refined, energetic and able. His platform talked of aggressively moving forward into the new decade, for ââ¬Å"the New Frontier is here whether we seek it or not. â⬠As our new leader he asked: ââ¬Å"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. â⬠The ââ¬Å"New Frontierâ⬠really became and symbolized his domestic and foreign programs. One major priority was to end a recession and restore a sense of growth along with boosting the economy. Other elements of the ââ¬Å"New Frontierâ⬠were to provide national defense, boost our space program and provide international aid. Kennedy also controlled monopoly pricing which large corporations disliked but it helped consumers to not be taken advantage of. He was also a major advocate of civil rights and although no legislation was passed during his presidency, it surely paved the way for future reform. Another boost was raising the minimum wage. The international accomplishments were major as well. The Peace Corps sent teachers to poor nations to improve education levels which in turn could help their economies. Secondly, was the Alliance for Progress, which provided aid to Latin America. The space program was strongly endorsed by Kennedy as well, as he challenged the U. S. to put a man on the moon by 1970. In the big picture, Kennedyââ¬â¢s New Frontier was successful for the economy and paving the way for many elements of political and social reform.

franchie business Essay
franchie business Essay franchie business Essay ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF FRANCHISHING An entrepreneur can wish to set up a new independent business and try to win customers and be successful. An alternative is to buy into an existing business and acquire the right to use an existing business idea. This is called franchising. Opening a franchise is usually less risky than setting up as an independent retailer. The franchisee is adopting a proven business model and selling a well-known product in a new local branch. For example subway is the biggest franchisor (who sells the right to use the business idea in a location). The franchising a very good business to be involved in, however it comes with its pros and cons. One of the main advantages of franchising is working under a well-known brand name such as subway has great benefits for franchisee. You can also save time and energy by not worrying about generating publicity to raise the awareness (advertising) of the business ââ¬â customers will know what to expect from a big chain. Having an established market means the business will pick up really quick start making money easily .Franchisee donââ¬â¢t have to worry much about competition as the business is already world-known. Another advantage is that like an independent business owner, the franchisee wonââ¬â¢t be left alone. The franchisor will give you advice and training programmes and they will give financial help the start of the business. The increased security and reliability of a large firm behind you means that banks will often offer you substantial loans to aid your start-up costs. On the other hand it also has its disadvantage, the initial and continuing fees: Franchisors will charge new franchisees a fee to start-up a business using their brand name. Although this can be under à £1,000, the amount varies greatly according to the franchisor. Furthermore Franchisors will take a regular slice of your takings as royalty fees also the payment of the employees has been

As WWII unfolded, which enemy posed the greater threat to American Essay
As WWII unfolded, which enemy posed the greater threat to American interests, Germany or Japan - Essay Example continued for six long years and ended with the victory of the Allies (England, America and France) and the complete defeat of the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, Japan) leaving infamous blurs on the very face of humanity in general and the warring countries in particular. ââ¬Å"World War IIâ⬠, the writer submits, ââ¬Å"fundamentally changed national institutions and behavior, immensely affecting most Americans; historyââ¬â¢s greatest armed conflict proved as much a turning point in personal lives as in world affairs.â⬠(782) As soon as the WWII came to an end, all the three countries belonging to the Axis Powers i.e. Germany, Italy and Japan were the losers among which Italy had already surrendered before the Allies and its dictator Bantu Mussolini had been executed. It is therefore both Germany and Japan were the only sufferers which had to undergo severe trials, strict banishments, indescribable humiliation and vast destruction. Heavy war indemnity and harsh terms and conditions had been inflicted and imposed upon the two losing countries pushing their masses in despair and losses in men and material. Germany was divided into two parts with the construction of the Berlin Wall; the western part was under the sway of the USA, the UK and France, while the eastern part of Germany was administered by Russia. Thus passion for revenge from Germany could be scared and expected by the Allies, especially the USA in future. Similarly, America has dropped atomic bombs on two of the Japanese cities Nagasaki and Hi roshima in August 1945 causing millions of lives into death and destruction. It is therefore revenge could also be expected from Japanese nation. Hence, the two losing countries were considered as the permanent threat for America in the future years to come. Before the beginning of the World War II, the notion of militarism had got its way all over the globe. Germanyââ¬â¢s Nazi party under the dynamic leadership of Adolf Hitler was determined to dominate the world in order

Drugs have known to change the personality of people as normal and calm people can become irrational under the influence. This paper analyzes the psychological and sociological basis of drug abuse. Sociology attempts to answer the phenomenon of drug abuse by using three perspectives. The first theory is known as the conflict perspective which states that society is a continuous state of change which results in competition. Another perspective is that of functionalism which says that society consists of segments which are linked with each other and serve a function (Campo, 2005). The final perspective of sociology is about symbolic interactionism which studies about the affect of society on the individual. The conflict theory postulates that drug abuse is more rampant in poor areas because marginalized communities do not have legitimate means to earn money. They are forced to sell drugs to earn a good living. The functional theory believes that drug abuse occurs because they provide an escape for people who cannot cope with the harsh realities of life. Drug abuse creates jobs for people who do not have the necessary skills required in a legal work force. Symbolic interactionist s believe that an individual may become a drug abuser because of labels which denied them the opportunities. The individual in this case had to resort to drugs to survive.
